Mission of Olympia Junior Programs, Inc.
What we do:
Since 1940 Olympia Junior Programs, a non-profit organization of community volunteers doing year-round behind-the-scenes work, brings live theater to the students and their teachers in 60 elementary schools in Thurston County and surrounding counties annually in the late winter and spring. Our goal is to offer two shows for grades 1-3 and two shows for grades 4-6. We contract with professional production companies for age-appropriate productions relevant to curriculum and state standards. Works based on literature or history are often used. Companies present a program that is technically more complex than could be done for an assembly in a school setting
Shows are staged at the Washing Center for the Performing Arts in Olympia, Washington at 10:00 AM and 12:30 PM daily (capacity 800 each) for generally five school days. Current cost is $7.00 per student with teachers free. Our policy is every student needs the opportunity to come and parent groups often pick up the cost for those unable to pay. Homeschooled students with their parents are welcome to attend.
Support the future of Olympia Junior Programs
Because of weather related cancellations, the Pandemic and increasing production costs, we must now turn to fundraising to help cover the costs and to keep production quality high. Our goal through South Puget Sound Gives is to raise $5,000.00 to supplement the ticket income to ensure a successful 2025 season.
Thank you for your support in making the live theater magic continue to happen!!!
