North Thurston Schools Educational Foundation

The North Thurston Education Foundation is an independent, community-based 501(c)3 nonprofit based in Lacey, Washington. Our mission is to mobilize the resources necessary to enrich programs, provide basic needs, and enhance educational opportunities for the students and staff of North Thurston Public Schools. Our vision is that every student, regardless of their background or financial situation, has the opportunity to excel and achieve their dreams. 

The majority of our program is Student Assistance Grants that support low income and homeless students and families to get what they need for success in school. What each student needs varies greatly. Some need school supplies, clothing, food, ASB cards for playing sports, or fees for class or activities. Some of our families need emergency funds for rental or utility assistance, move in costs for unhoused families to secure a rental, car repairs if family is living in it, or replacement of equipment after it was damaged. We make sure funds and items are donated to the schools so staff can quickly and quietly provide items as needed to minimize potential discomfort or shame, ensuring that those in need receive the assistance they require. 

North Thurston Public Schools is in Lacey Washington. We have a very diverse population with nearly half of the 14,500 student qualifying for Free/Reduced Lunch and 1024 identified homeless students last year.
