Our mission:
Mason County Climate Justice envisions and co-creates local climate solutions that regenerate healthy ecosystems, benefit everyone in our rural community, and align with climate justice movements around the world.

What we do:
We build community food forests, teach workshops, provide a rural perspective on policy, defend legacy forests so that they become old growth, collaborate for a Just Transition, and organize our community to take charge of our shared future.

Grapeview Elementary 2nd graders vote on the types of fruit they want in the new food forest.A family takes home free fruit trees at the Belfair Pride in Diversity fruit tree giveaway.Residents speak up at a Board of Natural Resources meeting, asking DNR to protect our county's few remaining legacy forests.

Our impact:

Thus far in 2024, we have:

  1. Distributed more than 6,200 free fruit trees and berry bushes to our local communities, supporting long-term rural/small town food security.
  2. Managed two long-term food forests whose harvests are open to everyone, in collaboration with the Hoodsport Timberland Library and UMC Shelton.
  3. Supported the launch of new food forests at the Shelton Veterans Village, Grapeview School, Evergreen Mobile Homeowners Cooperative, and more.
  4. Saved public lands (like the Harstine Flats legacy forest) from clearcut logging.
  5. Launched a new youth leadership program, engaging high school students in local government policymaking.

Thank you for contributing! We get many more requests for services than we can possibly fulfill. With your donations, we will be able to expand our regenerative agriculture programs, protect additional legacy forests, complete a land back project, grow our youth leadership program, and more!
