🎉Join us in celebrating 35 years of inspiring local generosity, empowering communities, and aiding local nonprofits!

Philanthropy has always been about the love of people. We all start as the next generation that those who came before cared about. Now, we are the generation that, in turn, cares for the next. Philanthropy is all about us and what we do for generations to come in support of our people. And in the case of the Community Foundation of South Puget Sound, we focus on the individuals in our region, which we define as Lewis, Mason, and Thurston counties.

💜When you give to the Community Foundation, you join a network of local people committed to a future in which everyone across the South Sound has the opportunity to thrive in sustainable, equitable, and resilient communities.💜

A meaningful gift to the Community Foundation makes Give Local possible year after year. Over the past seven years, our communities have raised just over $38.9 million in support of hundreds of local nonprofits, and we expect this year's Give Local to continue the trend of bypassing the previous year's records.

Give Local is only part of the Community Foundation's many efforts to partner with others who love our communities and invest in our bright and vibrant future. Since our founding in 1989, the Community Foundation has awarded over $25 million in nonprofit grants and student scholarships throughout the South Sound. These funds have become college degrees, meals, winter clothes, children's medicine, therapy, shelter, solar panels, forests, farmland, healthy rivers, music, art, and so much more!

We also know that spending time with our community and finding meaningful ways to convene is essential to our work, which is why, this past year...

  1. We hosted our inaugural Community Conversation event with journalist and author Mónica Guzmán out of growing concern from local people about increased polarization. We were beyond pleased to spend an evening with over 300 community members, where we engaged in curious and thoughtful conversations.
  2. We launched our first-ever Photo Contest, which invited local photographers of all ages and skill levels to share what community means to them through the capture of their lens.
  3. We celebrated the many individuals who have been a part of our journey over the last 35 years with Community Celebrations in each county.

Will you help us sustain this important work? Together, we can continue creating a more generous and abundant place where everyone can thrive—now and for years to come. ✨
